In general, in terms of the volume of communication services, the Krasnodar Region consistently ranks 3rd place in Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Over the last few years, the Krasnodar Region became a leader in the sphere of information technologies, development level of which give the opportunity to provide users with the most advanced telecommunication and information services.
In terms of the number of subscribers and the level of penetration of broadband Internet and mobile communication, as well as the share of revenue of mobile operators, the Krasnodar Region is among the leaders in Russia. Krasnodar region is also one of the few regions where advanced telecommunication technologies (4G/LTE, LTE-Advanced, 5G networks) are implemented.
IT and innovation infrastructure is actively developing in the Krasnodar Region. In 2013, the Krasnodar IT-park was established. On December 25, 2018, the first technopark for children “Kvantorium”, began its work in Krasnodar.
5 laboratories “Energikvantum”, “Robokvantum”, “IT Quantum”, Aerokvantum and Biokvantum, as well as Hitech shop with milling machines, laser plotters and other equipment worked there. 800 children aged from 5 to 18 years old will be trained on the basis of the technopark, and by 2020 their number should reach 1440.
The development of the Educational Center “Sirius” continues in the resort city of Sochi. At present, a new school building is under construction, where there will be transforming classes, natural science laboratories, design studios, halls for holding forums, a co-working zone, a library and an exhibition complex.
By 2021 it is planned to build a boarding school for gifted children in Krasnodar. There the modern laboratories of natural sciences, as well as a sports center, swimming pool and boarding school will be function.
In the Krasnodar Region a raw of large-scale and unique for the whole country projects have been already implemented. For example, in 2016, the MTS teamed up with the largest agricultural machinery manufacturer, CLAAS to installed SIM-cards in combine harvesters, tractors and other machinery equipped with TELEMATICS systems.
In 2012, the Krasnodar Region and MTS collaborated on opening a unique unified centre for mobile network operations, the only such facility in Russia.
